• Who Can Attend The CF Surf Experience?
CF kids who are a minimum of 5 years of age can attend the surf experience, with their physicians and parents consent. Unfortunately, children who have a confirmed positive sputum culture for B.Cepacia complex result are excluded

• What Does It Cost To Attend The CF Surf Experience?
It costs nothing to the family or child to attend the surf experience day.

• How Are The CF Surf Experience Funded?
Surf events are funded in various ways. Donations and grants are the principal way of generating funds for the events, but we also have sporting events (such as golf tournaments) and concerts to raise funds.

• How Can I Volunteer?
Please sign up on the Donation Link under Become A Member and let us know what you would like to do to help. We need volunteers at the cf surf experience events to help with the kids. If you are a surfer and would like to be one of the instructors in the water with the kids, that would be great. We attempt to have 1 on 1 interaction with the kids. You can also volunteer at our golf or concert events.

• What Does The Surf Experience Days Offer?
Please see upcoming events section for more information on what the event offers each child.

• Cross-Infection Protocol
Prior to any surf experience day, all CF patients are required to obtain consent from their personal physician. If the CF patient is not an adult, consent from the parents must be given. CF patients must be free of B. Cepacia (an antibiotic resistance bacteria) before participating in the SED.  At the event, we notify all CF patients to remain at least 10 feet apart from each other to reduce cross-infection. We also supply a colorful rash guard that we ask the student to wear immediately so we can easily identify them and ensure separation at all times. During the introductory period of the Surf Experience Day, all kids are given one on one surf lessons from professional surfers and a CF specialist is on-site to give a brief education to the pro surfers about Cystic Fibrosis and the concern of cross-infection. While CF participants are surfing, they are all kept 20+ feet apart in the ocean water (for cross-infection and safety reasons).  We also ask the parents to monitor their kids to ensure a reasonable distance is maintained at all times. Cross-infection is our biggest concern at our events.
