Raised on the beautiful island of Kauai, Andy Irons has pretty much lived his entire life at the beach. His father Phil, an experienced surfer, was responsible for the introducing Andy and his little brother Bruce to the surfing lifestyle of surfing. Both took to the sport and it only took a few years before a small brotherhood rivalry turned Andy into a fiercely competitive machine.
A stellar amateur career for Andy led him to winning his first professional contest before he had even graduated high school at the age of 17. However this wasn’t just any contest either; it was the HIC Pipeline Pro, which included all the top name surfers in the world at the time. With tremendous momentum moving into the professional ranks, Andy took a couple years to settle into the life of a pro surfer in and out the water on the World Qualifying Series.
A few years later, with his goal of a World Title securely in place Andy earned a spot on the prestigious World Championship Tour and moved one step closer to fulfilling that dream. As of 2007, Andy is now a 3 time World Champion, and considered the man to beat in any heat on the World Championship Tour. When Andy isn’t surfing he doesn’t stray far from the water. Andy currently resides in Princeville, Kauai where he enjoys playing golf on his home course overlooking the ocean.
